  You likely aren't expecting to hear from an active JW but I look in here once in a while. A bit of my history is that I was a JW, then I wasn't one and now am one again. From my perspective, life is better as a JW. At least as a JW a person knows where they stand. When I was an ex there were no clear guidelines, as the past I'd lived as a JW there were clear answers for most situations. It was a good wakeup call as I see that the world has nothing to offer ... possibly momentary highs followed by terrible lows. Of course what I feel is right for me but we all have to do what we feel is best for ourselves and thus take responsibility for our actions. Just my thoughts. a friend in need.

  The preaching work is done through the annointed still on earth. They lead the preaching along with the great crowd. The fruits of the preaching is the growth in numbers in the great crowd.

  My point about rather be visited by a witness is that I wouldn't be left stranded and you didn't mention that part.

  I think you know why witnesses don't contribute to Red Cross and SA, United Way and others. Some of them have religious affiliations and others perform unscriptural acts ( abortions etc)

  When I say we donate to charities, we select certain ones. Personally, I give to a childrens hopital regularly and a few others when I can.

  You didn't read my whole sentence. I said I'd rather be helped by JWs as they would not leave me stranded. That would mean physically as well as spiritually.

  Our ability to pull ourselves out of poverty was only accomplished with their help. And I do feel indebted to them. Not for the physical assistance as much as the spiritual. Believe what you will. They REALLY never did seem to notice our raggety clothes. Kinder people I have never met!

  What makes you think you know all there is to know about poverty. Your wife's friend has it tons better than I had it growing up. Try taking away the only income she has and then living with the rest of her problems. Thanks to some witnesses taking the time AND assistance, we have pulled ourselves out of poverty. They were the only ones who NEVER looked down their noses at us in our raggety clothes. Walk in my shoes before you tell me how rotten some people have it.
